When you complete your rental and return the vehicle, we will charge your card and the pre-authorisation hold will be released by your card issuer. Depending on your card issuer, it can take up to 28 days before this is reflected in your account balance. As the pre-authorisation hold is not a charge, the release of funds may not appear on your card statement. Please note – even though the hold is not an actual charge, it still temporarily reduces the available balance on your payment card until its release.

You don't need to worry about paying for the Dartford Crossing as most of our vehicles from nearby locations are pre-registered with the Dartford Authority. This means that you don't need to do anything extra, we will take payment for the crossings from the payment card used on the rental.
Unfortunately, you would not be able to collect your vehicle if our office is closed. However, if your flight number is present in your booking, we'll be aware of any delay to your flight and will endeavour to keep the vehicle for you. It's imperative you provide your flight number when you book, otherwise we have no way of knowing if your flight is delayed.

Pets are allowed in our vehicles with prior agreement from the store you intend to hire from. However, if a vehicle is returned with a messy interior beyond normal levels of wear and tear, it will need valeting so a cleaning charge will be added. This charge varies by location. Your hire station will give you the exact figure or call our reservations team for more information.

"Windscreen Protection reduces your windscreen excess to zero which means if there's new, non-negligent damage to the windscreen of the vehicle, you will pay a significantly reduced cost, if any cost at all. Once selected, this product will be added to your rental agreement at the beginning of your rental with any associated costs already quoted to you. This will be charged to your payment card at the end of your rental along with any other rental charges. RSN is our Roadside Safety Net product. This product removes ancillary costs that may be associated with a vehicle breakdown, such as jump starts or towing fees. When selected, RSN will be included on your signed rental agreement at the beginning of your rental. It will be charged at the end of the rental along with any outstanding rental charges. We offer theft protection with all our hire vehicles to assist in the event of all or part of your hire vehicle being stolen. The amount you pay depends on the vehicle you hire and where you hire it from. We offer a number of coverage packages to reduce your liability however, stay vigilant as you will not be covered should you leave your hire vehicle with the keys in it. Your booking quote and rental agreement will identify your liability level and our local representatives will also be happy to discuss your available upgraded coverage options when you collect your vehicle.

If you have already made a booking, but it is impacted by a quarantine measure or other travel restrictions due to the Coronavirus, this booking can be modified or cancelled as outlined below:
Should you need to cancel a prepaid booking that was made directly with us, we are waiving cancellation fees as long as the booking is cancelled up to 48 hours prior to the day your rental begins. If you cancel your reservation through our website, at least 2 days prior to the day of rental itself, your refund will be processed in full immediately and should reach your account within 10 days. To amend or cancel an existing booking, you can manage your booking here.
Please note that should you cancel within 48 hours or on the day the rental is due to begin, you will receive a full refund minus the lower of i) 2 days of your booking or ii) a fixed fee depending on the country you booked in (£60, €65, CHF76). If you do not cancel and fail to show up, no refund will be provided and a fee may apply.
For "pay on collection" or "pay later" bookings, there will be no cancellation fees up until the time the rental is due to begin.

While we try to provide our service to everyone who books a vehicle, there may be circumstances where we cannot give you a vehicle. Some of these scenarios are below:
If you did not satisfy the driving licence requirements: A valid driving licence must be provided. An international driving licence or an official English translation, by notary, of the driving licence must be provided if the driving licence was issued in a non-roman alphabet. Additionally, the driver must have held the licence for a minimum of one year, evidence is required to be provided to confirm this minimum duration. Please note that these minimum requirements could be longer for some of our special vehicles, such as our Prestige vehicles. If you did not satisfy the identification/security check: you must provide the following documents: The payment card used to make the reservation (plus an additional card is required for certain vehicles), a photographic ID issued within the last 10 years, passports, photographic driving licences, national identity cards and government issued certificates are accepted, proof of address, a recent utility bill or bank statement (driving licences are not accepted as proof of address). If you did not pass the DVLA's licence sharing check If you had Insufficient funds for the pre-authorisation transaction to be processed If you were not within the required age range for the vehicle type If you have any unspent driving convictions If you did not show up at the rental location to collect the vehicle per your reservation details If you refuse to take the vehicle provided and would not accept a replacement vehicle.

"We offer you a couple of ways to pay to make it easy. You can pay online now or pay on collection and we'll charge you at the end of the hire. The choice is yours.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners/Discover debit, credit or charge cards. There are a few exceptions: One credit card and one debit card may be required at the counter for higher-value vehicles in the UK. You can't use a debit card in Iceland and Canada. We don't accept cards with Solo, JCB or Cirrus logos – even if they carry the Visa or MasterCard logo. Germany issued Maestro cards are only accepted in Germany. If you booked online using a PREPAID card, it must be shown at the counter along with another payment card. Two payment cards may be required at the counter for higher-value vehicles; if you've booked online, or over the phone, this will be highlighted on your booking confirmation.
Remember, the name on the card must match the driving licence of the main driver and must contain both the first and last names to complete the check-out process. It’s easy to use a money off or upgrade voucher on your next rental. Simply present the voucher at collection of your next hire car and we’ll take care of the rest. Vouchers are valid at all participating rental locations worldwide (listed on the voucher) for a period of 12 months from the date of issue and are pursuant to the terms listed on the vouchers themselves. "We know that our customers hire vehicles for many different reasons, and have many different refueling needs. For your convenience, we offer 4 different refueling options:
– Bring Back Full If you bring the vehicle back full, or at the same level as the vehicle was picked up at, there won't be any charge. If there happens to be any missing fuel at the start, and it isn't the same as your rental agreement, please let one of our staff know or take a picture if you are in a hurry.
– Fuel Up Front This option allows you to purchase a full tank of fuel at a lower price per litre than our Pay on Return rates. You pay one flat fee for any amount of fuel, so try to return it as close to empty as you can to get the best value. If the vehicle is returned full, we do not charge you for Fuel Up Front.
– EZ Fuel If you drive for 75 miles (120 km) or less you can pre-pay a flat fee and we will take care of refuelling. If you choose to refuel yourself, please keep the receipt and present it when you return the vehicle.

You can also hire baby and infant booster seats. All our child seats meet the highest industry standards, because we understand how important your child's safety is. Remember, if your child is below the age of 12 or under 135cm, by law you must use an appropriate seat. This is to help protect your child in a collision because normal seat belts are designed to fit adults in the stronger shoulder and hip areas. Unfortunately normal seat belts support a child in the wrong place.

Yes. You can pay using Visa and MasterCard debit cards. There are a few exceptions: One credit card and one debit card may be required at the counter for higher-value vehicles in the UK. The Maestro card is only accepted in Germany. PREPAID cards are accepted online however they are not accepted at the counter which means a non-PREPAID card must be shown at the rental station (together with the PREPAID card). A PREPAID card can be used to pay for the rental at the end of the vehicle hire. Please refer to our location specific terms and conditions for additional information on payment options. Remember, the name on the card must match the driving licence of the main driver. Someone else can't pay on your behalf. And don't forget to bring your payment card when you collect your rental.

The amount you pay depends on the vehicle you hire, which country you hire it in and whether you choose to reduce the excess by upgrading your level of cover. When you hire a vehicle with us, you'll automatically receive third party, vehicle damage (Collision Damage Waiver) and vehicle theft cover to safeguard you on your journey. If you book on the US website you may find that vehicle damage and vehicle theft cover are not included, as some American credit cards provide insurance for car hire. Third party cover is the basic level you need to hire a vehicle, that's why we always include it. Should you damage another vehicle or passengers and their property, you won't have to pay for repairs or injuries. But, if you damage the vehicle you will still need to pay a fixed excess fee unless you upgrade your cover. Find out how much you pay depending on what you hire and where you hire it. We also offer Personal Accident Insurance in case you're injured in an accident.

We understand you might get delayed, so we try to be flexible. If you’re running late or need to extend your car rental, please make sure you contact us as soon as possible. Should you return the vehicle late – without notifying us or extending your hire – you may be subject to a late return fee. If you fail to extend the rental and you are more than 29 minutes late returning the vehicle, your rental will be extended and you will be charged an extra day’s rental at current pay at location prices plus a late return processing fee for each day or part of a day until the vehicle is returned.
If you overrun past your agreed return date and time, you will incur a late return fee. If you still haven’t returned the vehicle 24 hours later, then another late return fee will be applied. A late return fee will continue to be added every 24 hour period thereafter, until you return the vehicle to the rental station.
Depending on the country of rental, the daily late return fee will be (inclusive of VAT): £15.00/CHF 20.00/150.00 (DKR, NKR or SKR)/between €15 and €18.60 (country dependent), or the equivalent amount in local currency.

When a traffic offence occurs, we are notified by the relevant authorities as the registered owner of the vehicle in order to identify the driver of the vehicle. Whenever possible, liability is transferred to the driver of the vehicle at the time of the offence and the authorities re-issue the Penalty/Parking Charge Notice to the driver. We charge an administration fee to cover our costs involved in this process. Following a liability transfer, the authorities contact the driver directly by post with the re-issued fine. Rest assured, the dates of fine payment are updated so that the driver is not affected by the time taken to transfer liability. In some circumstances, liability cannot be transferred and the fine is paid on your behalf by us. The lowest possible fine amount is paid and is charged directly to the customer. Please note, to dispute an offence, the authorities must be contacted directly. Details of the dispute process and all contact details for the authority will be detailed on the re-issued penalty charge notice that you will receive.

You can pay for Fuel Up Front when you collect your hire vehicle. This simply means that you pay for a full tank of fuel upfront, saving you the hassle and time of refuelling before you return. This not only saves time but also money, because we offer a discounted rate compared to our fuel on return rates. If you choose Fuel Up Front but bring your hire vehicle back with a full tank, don’t worry, we won’t charge you for Fuel Up Front. But if you bring it back partly full, unfortunately we can’t provide a refund and you will be charged the full amount as listed on your rental agreement, so try to return the vehicle as close to empty as possible.

We do not charge your card and no money is taken from your account. When you complete your rental and return the vehicle, we will charge your card and the pre-authorisation hold will be released by your card issuer. Depending on your card issuer, it can take up to 28 days before this is reflected in your account balance. As the pre-authorisation hold is not a charge, the release of funds may not appear on your card statement. Please note – even though the hold is not an actual charge, it still temporarily reduces the available balance on your payment card until its release.

You are charged for each day (24 hours) you hire a vehicle. Whether you hire it for just two hours or 24 hours, you will be charged for the full day. Early Returns: If you return the vehicle and any optional extras early, you will lose the benefit of any special offers if you no longer meet their requirements. This may result in the rental costing you more.

Yes, if the vehicle has been involved in an accident or has sustained damage you must report the accident to the police immediately and to us within 48 hours, even if no third party was involved.
To hire a car in the , you need to be at least 19 years of age at the moment of collecting the vehicle and have held a driving licence for at least one year. If you or your additional drivers are under the age of 25, you'll need to pay an extra fee per day. The amount depends on where you hire a car, because the law and insurance terms vary between countries. If the location charges a premium fee, it could cost more. Unfortunately no, the name on the rental agreement, the ""named"" or ""main"" driver, must remain as it has been reserved. Should the main driver be unable to drive the vehicle or pick up the reservation, the rental must be cancelled and re-booked under the new designated name at current pay at location rates. Please note that for any cancelled reservations there may be cancellation fees as set out in our booking terms and conditions.
If the rental has already begun, you may wish to add an additional driver so that another individual can drive the vehicle, however the named driver cannot be changed.
Many city centers in Italy are defined ""Restricted Traffic Zones"". These areas are not accessible to vehicles on certain days or times as prescribed by the relevant traffic authority. Even when driving a rental car it is necessary to respect these restrictions to avoid incurring an administrative penalty.
Some of our stations are near central areas and ""limited traffic areas"" and it is therefore necessary to pay careful attention not to enter the ZTL. Our Florence Via Borgognissanti station, for example, is located near one of these areas. Customers are therefore informed of its presence and of the possibility of returning the vehicle avoiding entry into the ZTL.
If you are not sure whether or not the station is close to a ZTL or which route to take to return the vehicle, do not hesitate to ask.

If you cannot find your rental car keys, please first call our agents at the rental agency (listed on your rental documentation) and report the lost keys. Usually, we have a spare key for vehicles in a central storage location, which is then ordered for you by the agency.
Additionally, there may also be times when we need to have the rental car towed by a breakdown service if the keys cannot be secured otherwise.
You will be responsible for any loss or damage to the rental car keys. The amount of these costs depends on the country of rental. Costs resulting from loss of keys, such as towing service and replacement of the keys, must be paid by the customer.

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all of our vehicles. If we believe that someone has smoked inside the car during the rental period, an additional charge will be applied to cover our added specialist cleaning costs.

We understand this is a common concern. When you collect your hire car, we will check it and mark any existing damage on your rental agreement or vehicle condition report. You then sign this to confirm you are satisfied. Rest assured, we will never charge you for any damage that already existed. You will not be charged for any small scuffs and dents you pick up during your journey, as we understand this is normal wear and tear for any vehicle. These are:
Panel – abrasions or surface scratches less than 25mm (1inch) Panel – dents less than 25mm (1inch) Panel – paint stone chips (no dent) less than 3mm. Glass chips less than 3mm. Wheels/scratches less than 25mm Interior/seat tears/burns less than 3mm, carpet tears/burns less than 10mm If further damage was caused to the hire car during your rental, you will be charged in line with industry standards using estimating tools such as Audatex. In the case of any damage, we will charge the total repair costs up to the excess amount, which was agreed at the time of your rental contract unless there was a breach of our terms and conditions.

AdBlue is a diesel engine additive found in most of our diesel vehicles which helps to reduce NOx emissions.
Each vehicle fitted with AdBlue is also equipped with a warning light, which signals the next exhaustion of the additive. The remaining level will be indicated directly by the vehicle instrumentation. It is important to remember that the exhaustion of AdBlue causes the vehicle to be inoperable. Thus, when the warning light comes on, it is advisable to refuel AdBlue immediately.
Refueling can be done free of charge by going to one of our branches, facilities or affiliated networks or any gas station, before payment. In the latter case, the amount will be refunded and deducted from the amount due for the rental, upon return, upon presentation of an invoice.
Your invoice is calculated based on the items presented on your rental agreement at the beginning of your hire. An estimated amount is presented to you for your acceptance, so please carefully review this document prior to leaving the station with your vehicle.
Your invoice will also contain any applicable additional charges such as refuelling, damage repair costs, or additional days’ fees.

Whether you're hiring a car or van, you just need a clean driving licence that covers the vehicle you're hiring. Don't worry if you have points on your driving licence. You can still hire a car in the UK if you have six or less points. You must have held your driving licence for at least one year if you are hiring in the UK. If you already have your vehicle and want to keep it for longer time, simply call us at the location you collected it from or contact our reservations team. We'll work around you, where possible. Please note that changing the duration of the rental could change the overall amount you pay. We will instantly tell you how much more it will cost to keep it clear and stress free for you. We will also let you know if your hire car happens to be nearing the end of its 'rental life' and confirm if it's able to stay on the road a little longer. Yes! Simply go to your nearest hire station with the additional driver(s). Every driver must be present and your additional driver(s) will need to show their driver’s licence.
